This season being as cold as it has been, should and usually does make the salmon show up in April. The brownies are there as i write this waiting for our presence LOL that is really true. If you have kids and want them to have fun this is the action they and us will get. Let me know if you would like to book a trip for this awesome spring bite.

Brown Trout and Salmon

Well this spring has been good to awesome for the brownies with a few salmon and other trout. Today was the day the king salmon decided to show up just like they should. We had double digits of salmon on the rod with less than half seeing the boat. (They are frisky to say the least). The browns were inside of them chewing as well. There are some lake trout sniffing the inside waters too. I am thinking things are only going to get better with spring finally showing up. I have some dates left for the year if you are interested let me know asap so you can get the date you want. Till the next report be safe and healthy.

Thinking Spring

Well winter is finally disappearing slowly. Now is the time to think spring and the early spring bite on Lake Ontario. The fish are hungry from the long winter as well, so that brings them to the shallows looking for food. Brown trout were not in big numbers last year spring time, that was a lake wide observation and nobody knows why. They showed up all summer long as well as the smaller one’s which is this year’s main catch. Once again even the biologists didn’t have a clue, but they showed up. The steelhead and lake trout with a few salmon made the spring bite interesting. The fishing got a lot better as the season went on. I am anticipating a awesome brownie bite based on the cold winter we had. The salmon seem to show up in the spring a lot earlier when we have a colder than normal winter. I hope this holds true again. I was busy last year with a 192 trips. If you are thinking about fishing with me and HOOKEDUP try not to delay so you get the date you would like. Spring 2021

Well April of 2021 is now history, thank you. This was by far the worst brown trout fishing i have seen since i have fished this lake.(1977) Everybody struggled from one end of the lake to the other to find the browns. We could not find big numbers like every other spring has been. There has been just enough bites to keep your interest. Fortunately the salmon have showed up on time, usually around May. The Kings and Coho salmon are chewing the bait and my lures which is a beautiful thing. They should be staying in our water for the rest of the year getting shifted around by mother nature, but not going to far. The steelhead ( rainbows) fishing will be developing with the warmer temps coming to make those surface temperature breaks which the steelhead and salmon love to hang around. Hopefully mother nature is kind to us this year. If you are interested in fishing this year please don’t hesitate because i have limited dates available in June, July, August and September. Look forward to seeing you on the Hookedup.

September Salmon

Well this month to say the least has been slow in the salmon returning back to the Genesee to spawn. The lack of rain and low water has not helped at all. Luckily the lake trout are biting but that ends at the end of september. Hopefully mother nature is going to provide before i’m done 10/10. Sorry for the long in between reports, things have been crazy in this 2020 year as we all know. Be safe and hope to see you in the 2o21 season.

I apoligize for no report

Fishing has been good in early june to late june and now it it is awesome. I have been fishing everyday since we got the green light on may 15th. The fish are showing up in good numbers but the currents and mother nature are moving them around more then normal. The only thing that is good but odd is the bait is staying in the warmer water in shallow and not moving out off shore, weird. The salmon know that if they want food they have to get in the shallow warmer water, and we have been catching them there. When the cooler water gets close to the bait, like now game on. We were 10 for 15 on kings this morning in a 5 hr trip. Things are looking up.

We are open for fishing

We have been allowed to open since May 15th. Some restrictions of course. Fishing has been great to okay depending on mother nature. Things will only get better with the developement of the thermocline. That usually happens 2nd week of june. If you are thinking about a trip this summer please don’t hesitate only because i had to move many trips from this covid crap. Hope to talk to you soon, be safe.

The Nightmare Goes On

Here we are 5 day’s away from May and Hookedup is still grounded. I have had to move 26 trips from April to May 15th. I am hoping as well as others that time frame work’s out to be true. We might be only able to run 2 man trips till the green light comes. If that is the case i will be discounting the 5 and 8 hr trips with only two fisherman. What ever we need to do to make a living and be safe. I will keep you informed, meanwhile be safe and stay healthy.

Unbelievable

Well who would have thought this crazy killing virus could get this far. April is a wash with no trips fishing till (hopefully) may 1st. I apologize to those who were on the april schedule. I would like to thank the ones who rescheduled later in the year. I just hope i don’t have to move trips in may, that would suck. There is nothing i can do about it. New York state has shut down fishing charter boats, with a possible fine up to 10K. All we can do is follow the safety rules and let this monster pass. For those of you reading this and are thinking about going fishing later on this season you should consider booking soon. I say that because if may trips get boned i will have a busy schedule thru the summer with little time off. Mean while BE SAFE. (By the way the few times i have been out this late winter fishing was very good.)

Still Open for Buisness

This covid 19 is some crazy stuff, as we all know. I am still planning on running my trips starting April 4th. I am hoping everyone who steps aboard this spring knows they are not infected with this goofy virus, we don’t need to start something we don’t want. I just finished putting in brand new transmissions for Hookedup. That was a winter long project. That was pretty much being proactive to possible future issues. I have the mother lode of Hookedup t-shirts of all sizes, still 10$. Those who have ventured out in the lake are having great catches of browns of all classes, and even a few king salmon around already. If something changes I will let you know. Be healthy and safe.
