Early May Fishing

I have fished 8 trips so far this early may. The bite has been shifting around a bit with mother nature and the temperatures. One day we are in pounding the brown trout, then the water clears up and the bite slows up. Then we have been fishing offshore for steelhead and salmon, with a few lake trout in there. Limit catches of this mixed bag has been common.  That offshore bite is always shifting with the winds. One day we will be in 80 to 150ft of water, the next 150 to 300ft of water. We are chasing the surface temperature breaks, that is what is holding the fish. The bigger the break the better the fish chew. The biggest salmon so far aboard Hooked up is 23lb chinook. The bigger steelhead are just starting to show up on these temp breaks. That is one of my favorite fish to catch. They are so acrobatic, and electric when they get hooked. This cold weather we are having is only going to prolong this great bite offshore. I do have few days available for those of you that want to experience this exciting fishery.
